We are back from our African adventure. Below are some links to photos and videos from our trip.
Our first stop was London where we spent a day and a half hanging out on our way to South Africa. Here are some photos.
Our next stop was Cape Town. We flew from London to Cape Town on Sept 12 arriving on the morning of the 13th. The weather was perfect that Saturday, so we rushed up to Table Mountain to enjoy the views. Here are some photos from around Cape Town taken on that sunny Saturday along with some photos from a couple of our dinners around Cape Town we enjoyed later that week.
The day after we arrived in Cape Town, we took a short 2 day trip to Hermanus to stay at the Birkenhead House. The weather was not perfect, but we made the best of it. Our shark dive was cancelled due to the weather, but we made up for it by taking a short nature walk and visited a couple of wineries for some tastings. Hermanus is famous for it's coastal viewing of Southern Right Whales. We were not disappointed as we saw too many whales to count. Here are the photos.
After our brief visit to Hermanus we returned to Cape Town. From here we took a couple of tours. One day we toured the wine country around Cape Town, and the other tour was to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. The weather both days was perfect. Here are the photos of our wine country tour, and here are the photos of our Cape Point tour.
The morning after our Cape Point tour we got the 5am wake up call so that we could catch a ride to the airport for the 2nd phase of our journey. Now the real fun begins. We took a flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg and then we took some charter flights to the game parks. Our home for the next 3 days was Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sands area. Here are the photos from those first 3 days.
